During your trip to Morocco, you should include Essaouira into your travel plans. Essaouira is less than 200 km away from Marrakech; you can easily take local bus to get there.
5 things what I love about Esssaouira in Morocco
The architecture! Essaouira is a town with French charm (everybody speaks perfect French) and combination of blue & white makes a feeling of Greek architecture, but still you are in North Africa! What a unique combination!
Beach! One of the reasons why travelers come to Essaouira is the Atlantic Ocean & its possibility to do water sports due to strong wind. Be careful: temperature in May is around 25 degrees & you have a feeling that there is no need for high sun protection, you can easily get burned.
- The Market! Moroccan market is a great experience, and Essaouira is not an exception. In old town Medina of Essaouira you can find local stuff such as herbs, tea, olives, sea food, orange juice; traditional handmade products: clothes, carpets, leather with natural colors and much more. Happy shopping & do not forget to bargain! 🙂
- Art & Music! If you love traditional art & music, you will enjoy the atmosphere of Essaouira in Morocco. There are many shops with these thematic; local artists & musicians on the streets and beach make a unique experience.
Cats! Moroccans love cats, and cats in Essasouira enjoy nap due to hot African weather. You may find them chilling on the streets, shops, and close to houses. Definitely good models for your travel photos, right? 🙂
